a modern adaptable vernacular
First prize competition scheme designed with Simon Conder
British Steel Colourcoat Award 1986
- Modern steel frame construction with steel cladding is used to create a complex of buildings that serve modern needs whilst relating to the local vernacular of black painted weatherboarded barns around a farmyard.
- The inward facing courtyard elevations are interchangeable window, door and solid wall panels that can be arranged in different patterns for flexibility.
